Kristy Christensen is the Secretary of the AusIMM NZ Branch, Director and Female Inclusion Expert for Shesfreetobe Ltd and a Senior Technical Expert in the Minerals Industry.
Through Shesfreetobe she helps organisations set up their extractives workplaces for a female workforce, ensuring better health, safety and wellbeing outcomes are achieved through correct PPE provisions and workplace design. She has worked in the Mining Industry for 15 years across a variety of roles including Geologist, Geotechnical Engineer, Gas Drainage Superintendent and Senior Mining Engineer and different commodities including coal, gold and ironsand in New Zealand and Australia.
She is an active member of the AusIMM, currently on NZ AusIMM's Education Endowment Trust as a Trustee and has previously served on the Illawarra Branch as Secretary and committee member and was the Illawarra Representative for WIMnet (Women in Mining) NSW. She also was awarded Exceptional Young Woman in Mining NSW in 2018 and was runner up in the National Awards after driving a number of HS&W focused improvements for females working in the Illawarra underground coal mines.
